DDRUM artist Derrick Wright performs with Adele on Letterman!

Here is the live performance of Adele's single, "Rolling in the Deep", off her latest album 21.  The clip features drummer Derrick Wright playing on his dios ash burl drum set.  Derrick is all about capturing the right vibe for his current gig.  We have had lengthy discussions in regard to what gear will suit Adele's soulful vocal styling's.  Of particular interest was the tone of the snare drum.  We sent him one of our new iron blend Artisan snares.  This drum has a softer, more old-school tone, that’s perfect for fat backbeats.  Their live sound engineer agreed, and now the drum is making its nationwide debut.  Besides letterman, Adele has played the Today Show, and AOL sessions.  The band is now winging its way to LA for stints on Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel.  When the tour returns to England, Derrick will be playing one of the new Reflex kits in pewter.  More proof that the Reflex line is a force to be reckoned with in ANY playing situation.

Third ddrum Artist Nominated for a Grammy!

ddrum is proud to announce the nomination of Ryan Shaw, with drummer Keith McCray, for a 2011 grammy for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for:
In Between from his 2010 EP, IN BETWEEN. This marks Shaws second Grammy nomination.

Produced by Jimmy Bralower Keith McCray and Johnny Gale, IN BETWEEN is the bridge that links THIS IS RYAN SHAW to his up coming 2011 sophomore release MORNING NOON & NIGHT. Shaws songs are rapidly moving the young singer to the forefront of modern soul. The critical acclaim continues as People Magazine declared, Ryan Shaw possesses a voice and style that belong to another era, when R&B was about real singers, real instruments and real songs. The San Francisco Chronicle stated, He achieves the perfect balance between raw passion and melisma- rich vocal prowess. Shaw performed on the The Ellen Degeneres Show. In addition, Ryan has been featured on The Martha Stewart Show, The CBS Saturday Early Show, Last Call with Carson Daly and Ellen Degeneres first-ever primetime variety special Ellen's Really Big Show. ddrum is very proud of Keith and his accomplishments!

ddrum at Music As A Weapon Tour

Hello ddrum fans in ddrum land!  Here we are, post-NAMM with many things to share.  But first, I wanted to include some information on one of our artists that started a big tour, pre-NAMM.  The one and only Jeff Fabb, and his band In This Moment, are currently rocking out on the Music As A Weapon tour.  They share the stage with such acts as Disturbed (ddrum trigger artist Mike Wengren), and Sevendust (ddrum trigger artist Morgan Rose and Dean artists John Connolly and Vinny Hornsby).  Jeff will be rocking his olive sparkle Dios M kit on the tour.  The kit is a very special addition to the line, as it incorporates design concepts and sizes that were inspired by the legendary Carmine Appice.

In slight deviation, from our normal production models, Jeff's kit consists of a pair of 18x22 kick drums, with a tom holder drilled into the shell.  Jeff uses these to mount a pair of cymbals, which also saves a bit of floor space.  The two rack toms are 8x12 and 9x13, and the floors are 16x16 and 16x18. These more traditional sized toms give him a big classic tone.  The toms cut, and the floor toms rumble.  I have had the pleasure of being on stage for a few of their performances, and can tell you that these drums are like thunder! Combined with the Onyx Evans tom heads, and the Eq3 system on his kicks, Jeffs drums are a force to be reckoned with!
