Report from the road: Reflex Powerhouse and Uptown

The following statement is from Matt Babineau.  Matt is a ddrum artist in Canada, a hard-hitting journeyman drummer that covers a wide variety of styles.  Up until recently, Matt has been playing kits in our Dios range.  He just picked up a Reflex Powerhouse (pictured) and a Reflex uptown kit.  The statement is unedited and appears exactly as he wrote it:

" Morning Felix!

So I have had a chance to road test each kit.

I had the Uptown out on 2 shows (4 piece version) with the matching snare. The whole kit blew the band and myself away. Possibly the best on stage kick sound I have ever had. The toms were clear and full sounding. Great sustain and attack. The snare was the biggest surprise though. I had it cranked and it still sound very warm and dry as well as crisp. The performance of the all of the drums were superb. I didn’t have to touch a tension rod on the toms or kick for well over 50 songs and I hit friggin’ hard. The rack tom mount felt very solid. Not much movement when I hit the 12” compared to standard crescent mounts.

I brought the Powerhouse kit (minus snare and 18”) into the studio on Monday night to record 1 song. I am speechless! The engineer got the drum tones in minutes. Flat EQ on the whole kit and they sounded like thunder. I have never heard toms that huge coming through near field studio monitors with flat EQ. I used my Dios hammered bronze snare and it killed as well.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH "OCCUPY" THE TOP OF THE CHARTS: New Album 'American Capitalist' Debuts at #3 on the Billboard Top 200

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH’s new album, American Capitalist, has charted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, topping new debuts from artists such as Lauren Alaina, Ryan Adams, Martina McBride, Joe Jonas, and more.  The album sold a staggering 90,509 copies in its first week, making it the band’s strongest debut yet.  American Capitalist is an impressive continuance of the band’s success, building upon the already concrete triumph of their last two albums, both of which are RIAA Certified Gold.  American Capitalist also charted at #1 on the Independent Current Albums chart, #3 on the Top Current Albums chart, #2 on the Top Current Rock Albums chart, Current Hard Music Albums chart, Top Hard Music Albums chart, and the Overall Digital Albums chart.  The album also charted at #4 on the Physical Albums chart.

More impressively, American Capitalist is a completely independent release with no major label backing, making a #3 charting position a genuinely amazing achievement.  Prospect Park is a new independent production and management company founded by Jeff Kwatinetz.  Kwatinetz is known for starting former management powerhouse, The Firm, a company once known for managing chart-topping artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Linkin Park, and Snoop Dogg.  Prospect Park’s music division has a stellar track record of tremendous success with acts that not only include 5FDP, but Jane’s Addiction, Ice Cube and Korn, just to name a few.  Prospect Park’s project spectrum is leading them into the world of television in January; the company plans to kick off an internet-based online network beginning with the airing of soap operas, including the classics ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘All My Children’.

Have you met....Blake Allison?

Blake Allison has played drums for 12 years. Coming from Little Rock Arkansas, he started playing in bands when he was 16. His influences are Chad Smith, Abe Cunningham, Matt Cameron, Travis Barker,
and Abe Laboriel Jr. After playing in jam bands through high school, he was awarded a scholarship to the University Of Memphis for music education. He signed his first record deal at the age of 20 and was recording his first nationally distributed record with Josh Abraham (Korn, Limp Biscuit, 30 Seconds To Mars, Linkin Park). Over the next few years he toured heavily as the drummer for the band Egypt Central sharing the stage with Disturbed, Nonpoint, Drowning Pool, Hinder, Pop Evil, Adelitas Way, Five Finger Death Punch, Saving Abel, and 12 Stones as well as a tour on both Ozzfest and Family Values.

He currently is touring off his second record with Egypt Central promoting the single "White Rabbit". Which reached 15 on the active rock chart
